UPDATE: ALL GOLF COURSES IN ILLINOIS ARE ONCE AGAIN CLOSED INDEFINITELY - SEE OFFICIAL STATEMENT BELOW

We have been advised that the State of Illinois, through the Governor’s Office today, March 26, has changed its position again on the status of golf courses. The original determination that golf courses are not to be open is now in force again, as represented in this linked document: https://www.iml.org/file.cfm?key=18415.

The Illinois Municipal League was directly and clearly informed earlier this week by the Governor’s Office that the original determination had been modified to allow golf courses to open. We were informed today, due to the heightened request for everyone to observe the Stay at Home aspects of the Governor’s Executive Order, that golf courses are not to be open now.

We apologize for the confusion caused by the conflicting changes that have come directly and clearly from the Governor’s Office. See the statement from the Governor’s Office, released today, linked here: https://www.iml.org/file.cfm?key=18448 Thanks.

Can golf courses stay open?
No; recreational sports businesses including golf courses are not considered essential businesses under the executive order.
